* I like this one. It has obviously come from 孟子. The story goes that Mengzi advises a king that it is happier (樂) to enjoy (樂) music (樂) with others than by oneself alone. And it is happier to enjoy music with a lot of people than with just a few. The original - 曰:獨樂樂,與人樂樂,孰樂?曰:不若與人。曰:與少樂樂,與眾樂樂,孰樂?曰:「不若與眾」。

* Oh looks like the second part actually refers to “enjoy happiness” rather than “enjoy music”. So I guess it should be pronounced like this - du2 le4 yue4, ren2 le4 yue4, shao3 le 4 le4, zhong4 le4 le4.

* Oh I was wrong again. Seems like the first part should be du2 yue4 le4, ren2 yue4 le4. Will find out how to pronounce the second part.

* OK I conclude that both parts refer to enjoy music(hope it is not very wrong). And I would read - “yue1: du2 yue4 le4, yu3 ren2 yue4 le4, shu2 le4? yue1: bu4 ruo4 yu3 ren2. yue1: yu3 shao3 yue4 le4, yu3 zhong4 yue4 le4, shu2 le4? yue1: bu4 ruo4 yu3 zhong4.”

* Thanks Sky - I had a feeling there was more to it than multiple happiness . . .
